Lithological description

Grey, brown, grey-green to olive-green, silty and anhydritic claystones. Locally in the southern Dutch Central Graben, it includes up to 10 m thick, mineralogically immature, mica-bearing, grey to green-coloured, high-gamma-ray sandstones. The fine-grained sandstones may contain coaly plant-debris.

Depositional setting

Fluvial floodplain.

Thickness indication
Up to 160 m in the Dutch Central Graben and in the P quadrant; in other areas it varies between 10 and 50 m.
