Rogenstein Formation

Formal (NAM & RGD 1980). Amended (Van Adrichem Boogaert & Kouwe 1994).
Lithological description

Regular intercalation of up to 1 m thick oolite beds in stacks of small-scale fining-upward cycles. In the middle part of the member three conspicuous oolite beds occur.

Depositional setting

The oolite beds indicate a near-shore, shallow water depositional setting. The presence of the oolites distinguishes the Rogenstein Member from the Main Claystone Member.
