Lithological description

Yellowish green (unweathered) or greyish brown to yellowish brown (weathered) very fine to fine sand, moderately to very silty, glauconitic. Basal conglomerate with shark teeth.

Depositional setting

Warm shallow marine.

Definition of lower boundary

Sharp, unconformable contact with marine sand and clay (Rupel Formation; Van der Meulen et al. 2009).

Definition of upper boundary

Overlain by paralic sand (Heksenberg Member, Breda Formation).

Up to about 45 m.
Geographical distribution
Restricted to the southeasternmost Netherlands.
Regional correlation
North Sea: not present; UK: not present; GER: ?; BEL: Berchem and Bolderberg Formations, Houthalen Member (Vernes et al. 2018).
