Definition The Red Salt Clay Member is a red, generally anhydritic claystone. It may include some calcareous or dolomitic intercalations. On wire-line logs the boundary of this unit with the overlying Z4 Pegmatite Anhydrite Member can be recognised by a characteristic, sharp increase in acoustic velocity, which is very useful for regional correlation purposes.
