Definition A grey, occasionally silty, claystone sequence, often containing characteristic clay-ironstone concretions and/or iron ooliths. Its base rests upon the bituminous claystones of the Posidonia Shale Formation and its top is defined by the first of the more calcareous, silty to sandy beds of the overlying Middle Werkendam Member.
