Definition Marl/limestone alternation in which the number and thickness of limestone beds clearly increase toward the top. Just above the basal limestone beds a characteristic marlstone interval is found. On wire-line logs the unit is recognisable by a clear overall funnel shape. Latest Bajocian to Early Bathonian age (Dogger-e3 to -e5; Herngreen and de Boer (1978) ).
