About this application

In the period between 1993 and 1997, the former Rijks Geologische Dienst (RGD) published the revised Stratigraphic Nomenclature of the Netherlands (van Adrichem Boogaert and Kouwe, 1993-1997), result of a joint effort of RGD and the Netherlands Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Association (NOGEPA). The Stratigraphic Nomenclature of the Netherlands (Nomenclature) describes the stratigraphy of the Netherlands deep subsurface, from the Devonian up to the Tertiary.
The Nomenclature does not deal with the Quaternary formations.
The information in the Nomenclature has been re-organised for this Internet version. Re-editing efforts have been kept down to a minimum and the text closely follows the original. As a consequence the user will be confronted occasionally with phrases that have become meaningless, e.g. phrases referring to chapters in the book. TNO-NITG will periodically edit the information to eliminate these inadequacies and to correct other errors.
