One of TNO-NITG"s core activities is the mapping of the deep subsurface of the onshore Netherlands. Our efforts over the years have yielded detailed data sets, including depth maps of the major stratigraphic units from the Tertiary to Rotliegend (early Permian) lines, the boundaries of these units and well information. For the purposes of the project, the Netherlands was divided up into 15 map sheets, which were published in analogue form. The mapping of the deep subsurface of the onshore Netherlands was completed at the end of 2002. In 2004 the final map sheets will be released in analogue form. TNO-NITG now also publishes these data sets in digital form, through the digital 3D atlas via DINOShop.

TNO-NITG decided to develop, and provide to the public free of charge, a 3D data viewer that users could use to view the data mapped by TNO-NITG. The data that the viewer can visualise can be selected from the DINOShop and downloaded for free, just like the viewer. Click here to see a sample. Anyone wishing to download the viewer and the data must first register with DINOShop. Then click here to go to the data viewer download and installation page. The viewer functions are explained in a "getting started" PDF file.

Data sets selected from the 3D atlas of the deep subsurface of the Netherlands currently contain the depth grid, subcrop lines and fault lines for all nine stratigraphic horizons, supplemented with well interpretations and navigation data on the seismics used.

On the data selection page, users can select which part of the Netherlands they want mapping data for. The files can take up to 30 MB of memory.
