The output format
DINOShop offers users the option of extracting the information on borings in the shallow Dutch subsurface from DINO Borings. The data is currently supplied in a format that users can easily view in a spreadsheet through Microsoft Excel or in Microsoft Internet Explorer. To enhance readability, a limit has been placed on the quantity of attributes supplied (for the time being).

The definitions of the following attributes can be found in the Standard Description method for Boreholes (SBB).

The present format includes the following general data on the borings:

  • NITG borehole number;
  • X coordinate (meters);
  • Y coordinate (meters);
  • Coordinate system;
  • City;
  • Province;
  • Map sheet (from TDN 1961, 1:25,000);
  • Method of location positioning;
  • Surface height (measured in meters from NAP, National reference level);
  • Method of surface height determination;
  • Drilling method;
  • End depth (meters below surface level);
  • Date of drilling;
  • Commissioning agent;
  • Contractor.

The present format provides the following general data on the layer descriptions (lithology):

  • Describer of the lithology;
  • Affiliation of the describer;
  • Description method;
  • Wet or dry sediment;
  • Date of description;
  • Quality of lithological description.

The present format contains the following specific layer data:

  • Layer&squot;s upper boundary (meters below surface);
  • Layer&squot;s lower boundary (meters below surface);
  • Colour (primary and secondary colour and intensity);
  • Lithology (based on NEN5104);
  • Sand median;
  • Sand median class;
  • Clay admixture;
  • Clay percentage;
  • Silt admixture;
  • Silt percentage;
  • Sand admixture;
  • Sand percentage;
  • Gravel admixture;
  • Gravel percentage;
  • Organic matter admixture;
  • Percentage of organic matter;
  • Lime content.
